Berdasarkan pers rilis yang diterima detikcom, Sabtu (29/12/2007), jalan-jalan yang akan ditutup adalah Jalan MH Thamrin (BI-Sarinah), Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Jalan Veteran Raya, Jalan Veteran I, II, III, Jalan Majapahit dari arah Harmoni, Jalan Museum dan Jalan Bidi Kemuliaan dari arah Jalan Abdul Muis.
Jalan-jalan tersebut akan mulai ditutup 31 Desember 2007 pukul 16.00 WIB hingga 1 Januari 2008 pukul 02.00 WIB.
“Kepada pengguna jalan diimbau untuk menghindari ruas-ruas jalan tersebut dan mengikuti petunjuk petugas pengatur lalu lintas,” kata Kepala Dinas Perhubungan DKI Jakarta Nurachman.
Sebagai jalur alternatif, arus lalu lintas dari arah utara (Kota) atau dari arah barat (Jalan Sukarjo Wirjopranoto) yang akan menujut selatan (Jl MH Thamrin-Jl Sudirman), diarahkan menlalui Jalan H Juanda - Jalan Pos - Jalan Dr Sutomo - Jalan Gunung Sahari dan seterusnya.
Sementara itu dari arah selatan (Jl Sudirman) yang menuju utara (Jl gadjah Mada - Kota), diarahkan melalui Jalan Karet Psat Baru Timur (Tower BNI), Jalan KH Wahid Hasyim - Jalan KH Mas Massyur - Jalan Cideng Timur - Jalan Cideng Barat - Jalan Majapahit dan seterusnya.
Dan arus lalu lintas dari arah Tugu Tani akan dialihkan ke arah Jalan Gadjah Mada melalui Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur - Jalna Perwira (Masjid Istiqlal) - Jalna Lapangan Banteng Barat - Jalan Katerdral - Jalan Juanda dan seterusnya.
“Bagi warga yang ingin menikmati kembang api di malam tahun baru, dapat memarkir kendaraan di Stasiun Gambir, Masjid Istiqlal, Departemen Agama dan Departemen Keuangan,” ujar Nurachman.
